The Rath Team was handed a new challenge - go RZR racing at the GNCC Series. Sounded exciting enough and was probably going to be a whole lot of fun. Take a RZR get it ready with a Rath Roll Cage, Rath Bumper and some new trick Rath Doors.
The unique twist with GNCC RZR racing is the need for a co-pilot, with that being said it was decided that I ( in case you do not know this I am Daryl's wife that writes all these) was going to be the lucky one filling that passenger seat. Let the mad rush begin...in a flurry of activity getting the car built I had some phone calls to make to some friends in the Industry.
My first call was to a great friend at Fly Racing to make sure I had a very good helmet. My helmet shows up and it is really nice looking..I just had to figure out if he sent one that matches Daryl's on purpose. What could be more comical then a husband and wife team, strapped in next to each other with matching helmets tearing through the woods??
The couple weeks we had to prepare flew by it was time to head to the line. As we were sitting in staging an unbelievable rush of white knuckled raw adrenaline hit me, and when I heard "10 seconds" it was right at that moment I knew I wanted to win!!!
What an experience, 45 minutes chasing others through the woods as fast as you can go. Overall we had a pretty darn good day for a couple of Side by Side Newbies with a 7th overall finish.
The next round for Side by Sides is May 22nd in Somerset PA...and we will be there!

It's amazing at the end of every season a team starts planning the next one, there are even some cases it's the middle of the current season and plans are falling into place for the next year.
What does it take...the work behind the scenes so often goes unnoticed. Riders training looking to gain the "fast" lap times, mechanics wrenching away, and team managers making phone calls and looking for aw much support as they can drum up.
GNCC racing started in Florida on February 27 with a second round the following weekend. Those back to back weekends get crazy enough, but add the working the bugs out, and hold on it is going to get bumpy. Daryl Rath will once agin be ridign in the Utility Open Modified Class, taking his Sportsman 850XP to the front. While he is busy concentrating on the GNCC Series, things are in motion for Casey Martin.
Casey Martin is back on board a 2010 Polaris Outlaw 450MXR and is planning on taking up right where he left off at Loretta Lynn's ATVA MX Nationals..on the podium.
Spending the later part of last season getting the bike dialed in, he is busy training in Florida making sure he is ready for Round one. What for the results ATVA MX National Rd #1 is March 27th at Pell City AL.

Well here we are, 3 days before the GNCC team leaves for Florida and the MX team leaves for California. We are now making last minute adjustments to the quads and starting to load the trailers. The mood here is very upbeat as everyone is excited and ready to hit the road for warmer weather and of course RACING!!! The 2009 quads are really going to turn some heads this year, not only with the new designs but with power to boot.
We are very exited about 2009! We have Great Quads and Very Talented Riders... The competition will definitely know that the POLARIS / RATH TEAM has stepped up their game and is coming to the front.

'It is truly amazing the work that goes on behind the scenes as a factory race team trys to prepare for the big day "1st Race of the Season".
A little stroll through the race shop looks like Frankensteins labratory to say the least. You have ATV frames on work stations back from the operating room where gussets and frame modifications have just been finished. They are now just waiting to have the race built performancer heart "motor" to be installed and the rebuild starts.
Parts and peices fill the mechanics carts, with drawings, sketches and notes attached. In the middle of it all is a wipe board listing things that are needed and that looks like a work in progress, with arrows drawn and things added up and down the sides.
We can\'t forget about some of the cool development parts laying alongside some OEM takeoffs, all ready to be weighed and tested. Last years parts seem to be forgotton as they are pushed back out of sight, they were so shiny and new not even 6 months ago and are now considered outdated. Amazing how new ideas can improve things in such a short time.
Let the countdown begin we are 30 days away from race weekend. Check back and see where the team is next week.

What does racing in mud really mean? I am talking about the deep sticky mud that sucks the shoes right off the boot of your feet, the kind that feels like you just stepped into super glue. Yep that is what the weekend of racing cross country at the GNCC Ironman this past weekend.
The team made the final round of bike prep on Thursday and left for a ten hour road trip to Crawfordsville Indiana. Ten hours is quite a roadtrip, but having a team based out of the midwest ( Minnesota) our average drive racks up closer to twenty hours!
We were hoping to break the tradition of rainy, cold Ironman racing but it wasn't meant to be! Arrived to the track with a lake of slimy mud to compete with and in. It is going to turn out to be quite the weekend!

One thing that seems to be so unique about this team is, well we race a lot of different styles. We can be seen at a Supermoto race, a Cross Country race, a MotoCross race or even a race in the dunes. Sometimes the team will be racing for the podium in two completely different states on the same weekend.
That was the case this past weekend. Daryl headed to the fields of Iowa for a harescramble event on his Sportsman XP 850 doing a little racing and testing for the 2009 GNCC Series. Landon Hurst headed to the dunes for some awesome racing in the sand! It is something about the guys on this team- they WANT TO RACE, and will usually find an event even on the off weekends.

This is it....a true connection to a factory ATV Race Team. You will be able to follow the Factory Polaris Team efforts as they prepare for races, develop new performance products and get updates as he season unfolds.
Have you ever imagined what goes on as a team of this size prepares to attend event? Think off how much work it is to get one bike, one trailer and parts ready to go. Ok, now multiply that by six!
We invite you to enjoy our site, connect with the racers, read some of the press release and media surrounding our team.
